Healthy Graphic Design ?
When the plague in 1660 killed thousands of people in London, “plague crosses” were used, which were posted at the doors of the victims with the statement “May the Lord have mercy on you”.
Since then the public health warnings have evolved, contributing to a significant improvement of the same through prevention.
In the 19th century, much of the information would be about lung diseases.
Between the two Great Wars, many of the messages would be about sexual diseases and now graphics design gives it a full contribution from prevention to waiting times in hospitals.
This is a good example of the importance of “good” graphic design in society.
