Neumorphism (Soft UI) in User interface design
Neumorphism is a visual style that blends techniques from skeuomorphism, realism, and flat design and it’s here to stay in the beginning of this new decade.
It describes interface objects that mimic their real-world counterparts in how they appear and/or how the user can interact with them. A well-known example is the recycle bin icon used for discarding files. Skeuomorphism or Neumorphism makes interface objects familiar to users by using concepts they recognize.

There are many UX and UI reasons for Neumorphism success:
- Accessibility
- Adaptive
- Perfect for great UX
- Minimalist
- Flexible
- Performace
Neumorphism is not a replacement of Flat design trend but is a great complement for it.
There’s no need any alarms for Flat Design lovers but we can see here another trend that can push the virtual to another level.
